In commemoration of the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, the Glo Foundation has launched a major initiative to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education among Nigerian girls.

The programme, tagged the ‘Glo Innov8’ National STEM Competition for Girls in Senior Secondary Schools, offers a prize pool of ₦5 million for the top-performing schools. It is designed to strengthen young women’s skills, boost their confidence, and prepare them to innovate and succeed in STEM-driven careers.

According to the foundation, the initiative is “a modest way of celebrating and encouraging the girl child to focus more on STEM subjects and pursue careers in these areas in the future so as to become problem solvers for the country.”

The winning school will take home ₦2 million, while the two student representatives will each receive a laptop. Their teacher or mentor will also be rewarded with ₦200,000. Second- and third-place schools will get consolation prizes.

Registration, which opened on September 15, will close on October 5, 2025, and is open to all senior secondary schools nationwide. Schools can register by visiting https://glo-foundation.com/glo-innov8/ and filling out the form for a chance to STEM their way to ₦5 million.
