We’re yet to be reinstated, expelled UniAbuja students cry out

The two final-year students of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), Cyprian Igwe and Olamilekan Oladeru, who were recently expelled by the university over an alleged plan to protest the proposed school fees hike have expressed worry over their predicament and have now taken their case to the National Assembly for intervention.

The duo insisted that they were unjustifiably expelled and called on the Senate to prevail on the school authority to reinstate them so that they would not continue to suffer for an offence they did not commit.

Education free for physically challenged students at Sa’adatu Rimi University – VC

The Vice Chancellor of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kano, Prof. Yahaya Bunkure disclosed that the institution is offering free education to physically challenged students.

This was just as he said that the institution has so far accessed intervention funds worth N3 billion from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for the infrastructure development of the institution.

IEIEPC trains teachers, parents on special, inclusive education

The Inclusive Education and Individualised Education Plan Centre (IEIEPC) has trained teachers and parents on effective strategies and skills for teaching and caring for learners with special needs.

At the two-day training, which took place at SUBEB Hall, Maryland, Lagos, the Director, Inclusive Education and Individualised Education Plan Centre (IEIEPC), Dr Oyeyinka Oluwawumi, in his keynote address, said the training is aimed at equipping teachers and parents with skills to better maximise the potential of learners with special needs.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kwara State University branch yesterday appealed to the state Governor, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to fulfil his promises to the union’s demands on the payment of the accumulated Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) to its staff and restore subvention to the institution.

A statement issued in Ilorin by the union and signed by its branch Chairman, Dr. Abdulganiyu Shehu Salau, stated that the recent removal of fuel subsidy is seriously undermining the survival of academics in the university and the university itself at large.
