OsunPoly impasse: SSANIP joins ASUP strike, students issue ultimatum

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics, SSANIP, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree chapter, has thrown its weight behind the suspension of academic activities in the institution.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, OsunPoly, Iree chapter had last week suspended academic activities over the suspension of the institution’s Rector, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo by the State government.

Benue Govt inaugurates panel to audit state university

Gov. Hyacinth Alia has inaugurated the Benue State University (BSU) Makurdi visitation panel to audit the institution from 2016 to date.

TCRN calls for transformation of education system

Trinity varsity announces demise of VC

The Governing Council and management of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, have announced the passage to glory of the institution’s Vice Chancellor (VC), Prof. Charles Korede Ayo.

In a statement, yesterday, by Head of Corporate Affairs Department, Michael Bamigbola, the university said Ayo passed on in the early hours of Wednesday, August 2, 2023, during a brief illness.

AAU, JAMB, NUC Launch Plan Of Action Toward Academic Excellence In Nigerian Higher Education System

Stakeholders in the education sector including the West Africa Office of the Association of African Universities (AAU), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the National Universities Commission (NUC) launched a Framework for Action for Accelerating Academic Excellence (FAAAE) in the Nigerian higher education system.

This was at a seminar held on August 2, 2023, jointly hosted by the AAU West Africa Office and JAMB and attended by Vice-Chancellors, VICBHE Module 7 participants and other stakeholders in higher education in Nigeria.

Parents, others lament malpractice in entrance exam

Some parents and educators have taken to the Facebook page of the Concerned Parents Educators forum to complain about the examination malpractice they witnessed during the National Common Entrance Examination.

The comments made references to the unethical conduct of the invigilators who were seen calling out answers to the children during the exam which took place on July 22.

A student of the African Church Model College, Lagos, Adenuga Adeniyi, has emerged winner of the third annual national Teens Think essay competition.

Adeniyi who contested against 14 other finalists, distinguished himself with his remarkable writing and presentation skills to earn the prestigious title of national champion for the essay competition.

All 15 finalists developed and presented an essay on the topic, ‘Cultural integration as a way of life.’
