Half Salary: Lecturers not casual workers – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has flayed the federal government for paying half salaries to lecturers in October.

The federal government had explained that the lecturers were paid based on the days they worked in the stated month.

The Kaduna State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to providing every child resident in the state free primary, secondary and technical as well as vocational education.

Governor El-rufai described the provision of free education for the first 12 years of schooling

as a legacy achievement of the state government at an extraordinary meeting of the State Executive Council, held on Monday.

University staff to go on strike this month

University lecturers and other staff across the UK will strike this month over pay, pensions and working conditions, the University and College Union (UCU) has said.

Strikes will take place on 24, 25 and 30 November at 150 universities.

NI Education: Most primary schools ‘not providing enough PE’

About three-quarters of primary schools are not providing the recommended amount of physical education (PE) classes, according to the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI).

Department of Education guidance is that pupils should have at least two hours of PE each week.
