List of Federal Universities in Nigeria That Have Increased Tuition Fees
Following the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)’s failure to pressure the federal government to provide more funds, some prominent Nigerian public universities have increased their tuition fees.
Many federal universities across the country have announced over 200 per cent hike in registration and tuition fees for students.

C’River principals, teachers suspended for dubious charges on students
Principals, headmasters and teachers in public schools have been punished for extorting an array of extra charges from pupils in Cross River State.
Commissioner for Quality Education in the state, Dr Godwin Amanke confirmed that six principals have been suspended and 12 others removed from office.
He also disclosed that 16 teachers and principals were transferred to rural areas for imposing dubious charges on students.

BBHS at 100 : Obasanjo counsels current students on humility , honesty, fear of God
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says humility, honesty, integrity, wisdom, courage, competence and fear of God should be imparted in students across the country for a better future.
Obasanjo said this while delivering his lecture during the 100th anniversary of Baptist Boys High School (BBHS), Abeokuta, held at the school premises on Wednesday.
The former president, 1957 graduate of BBHS, noted that it was important to inculcate good morals into the students for a better future for Nigeria.
The former president spoke on the topic : “Eyin ni Iwe Wa: You are our epistle”.
Obasanjo stated that the galaxy of men and leaders which the BBHS had produced for the country owe the Southern Baptist Convention in the USA, a debt of gratitude for their great commission work.

Members of Staff of the six Oyo State-owned tertiary institutions under the aegies of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), have lauded Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, for what they called ‘several unprecedented impacts’ he has made on the tertiary education sector in the state.
The workers, who paid a thank you visit to the governor at the secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan thanked him for improved welfare of members of JAC in the last 44 months.
The body also described Governor Makinde as a great leader of contemporary Nigeria and the face of good governance in the country.
The JAC comprises workers from the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo; The Polytechnic, Ibadan; The Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki; the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa; College of Education, Lanlate and the Oyo State College of Agricultural Technology, Igboora.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the JAC chairman, Comrade Segun Oyewumi, as saying that Makinde’s warm disposition to the welfare of JAC members and the improvement of the tertiary education sector is exemplary and second to none.
Makinde inaugurates implementation c’ttee for Emmanuel Alayande University of Education
Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday, inaugurated the Implementation Committee for the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, tasking the committee to make the university the number one education degree awarding institution in Nigeria.
Governor Makinde, who stated this while inaugurating the committee members at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, said that his administration will leave a legacy of quality education in Oyo State.
While charging members of the committee to work out the policy and process by which the institution will be run, the governor said that the new university of education will soon become a topmost institution in Nigeria for the acquisition of degrees in the field of education.
Remita Begins Sales of 2023 JAMB Registration ePINs, offers more commission to agents, schools
Remita, a leading electronic payment platform, has commenced the sale of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) ePINs to prospective candidates seeking admission into higher institutions across Nigeria.
As recently announced by the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB), the sale of ePINs for 2023 UTME registrations commenced on Saturday, January 14, and ends on Tuesday, February 14, while the Direct Entry (DE) forms will commence on Monday, February 20 and end Thursday 20 April, 2023.
Prospective candidates are to register with their National Identification Number (NIN) by typing the word ‘NIN’, then space, adding their 11-digit NIN and sending as an SMS to 55019, e.g (NIN 00123456789). They would receive an SMS with a 10-digit profile code via the phone number that should be used to purchase their ePINs.
They are then to proceed to the Remita website (remita.net/jamb) and follow the instructions. Once payment is completed, the ePIN will be delivered to the candidate’s registered phone number and also displayed on their Remita receipt.

Matawalle Approves Appointment Of 412 Academics, Non Academic Staff Of Zamfara State University
As part of efforts at revamping the educational sector, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of 412 permanent academic and non-academic staff of the new Zamfara State University.
This followed an earlier recommendation put forward by the Management of the University
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser, Media, Zailani Bappa said, “The Executive Governor’s approval, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed by the Head of Service Alhaji Muhammad Kabiru Gayyari today(Wednesday) .
“In a report by the committee on strategy and development headed by Prof. Yusuf Muhammad Adamu Tsafe, Governor Matawalle had earlier directed the Ministry for Higher Education to liaise with the Management of the university to ensure implementation of all key recommendations that would facilitate the smooth take-off of the university.
The statement noted that, “Building on the directive to implement the recommendations of the report by the Prof. Yusuf-led committee, the university’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Yahya Zakari Abdullahi coordinated the recruitment exercise of both academic and non-academic positions.
“The process was supervised by the Ministry for Higher Education and in line with National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation requirements and the Zamfara State Civil Service Regulations.
