The Advocacy for Positive Behavioral Patterns Initiative (APBPI) has initiated a comprehensive campaign aimed at cultivating positive behavioral patterns among secondary school students across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The campaign, led by APBPI campaign team director Bamidele Mann, commenced at Government Secondary School, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja, with the objective of promoting character development and fostering positive change within Nigerian students and society as a whole.

This initiative, organized in collaboration with the FCT Secondary Education Board, underscores the importance of character building in shaping the future leaders of the nation. Sani Ladan, the secretary of the FCT Secondary Education Board, emphasized the board’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded students with exemplary behavior. He highlighted the diverse backgrounds from which students come and the inherent challenge of molding their behaviors positively.

Notably, the board had previously developed and disseminated an anti-bullying manual to schools in 2023, reflecting its proactive stance in addressing behavioral issues within the FCT education system. Mr. Ladan commended APBPI for partnering with the board to effect meaningful change in FCT schools. Akerele Irene, the principal of Government Secondary School, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja, emphasized the critical importance of fostering positive behavior patterns to create a safe and conducive learning environment for children.

Meanwhile, Rinsola Abiola, the senior special assistant to the president on citizenship and leadership, encouraged students to prioritize education as a vehicle for personal development and societal progress. Ms. Abiola underscored the significance of adolescence as a period of significant behavioral changes and urged students to take proactive measures in conflict resolution to contribute positively to society’s advancement.
