Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has inaugurated two vital boards—the Pilgrims Welfare Board and the Scholarship Board—aimed at enhancing educational standards and fostering spiritual growth among the citizens.

Speaking during the ceremony at the Government House in Owerri, the Governor emphasized the significance of addressing school drop-out rates caused by financial constraints and a lack of parental support. He expressed the government’s commitment to reviving the Scholarship Board to assist both talented and underprivileged children in Imo State.

Governor Uzodimma highlighted the importance of seeking divine guidance alongside government efforts in providing infrastructure and health services. He urged the members of the Pilgrims Welfare Board to uphold their integrity and work diligently to facilitate annual pilgrimages for Christians and Muslims in the state. The Governor called for a collective pursuit of spiritual upliftment and peace in Imo State.

In accepting their roles, the board chairpersons, Rev. Fr. Gilbert Alaribe for the Pilgrims Board and Rev. Fr. Marius Oluigbo for the Scholarship Board, thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve. They assured that their teams would work tirelessly to enhance the pilgrimage experience and realize the government’s educational aspirations for the state. The inauguration ceremony was attended by key government officials, including the Deputy Governor and members of the State Expanded Executive Council.
