The Kogi State Government has vowed to take strict action against any school heads undermining its free education initiative in public primary and secondary schools.

Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, issued the warning during a visit by the National Parent-Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN), emphasizing that any principal or head teacher found compromising the policy will face legal consequences.

Jones highlighted that the government’s commitment to free education includes covering all examination fees for students in public schools, such as WAEC, NECO, JAMB, and more. He called on NAPTAN to work closely with educators to ensure the full implementation of this initiative, noting that education remains the state’s most sustainable investment under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.

NAPTAN’s Chairman, John Abenege, praised the state government’s efforts in promoting academic excellence through its free education policies and assured their full support for the successful execution of educational initiatives in Kogi State.
