Esomnofu Ifechukwu from Crown Grace School, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, has been named the winner of the 10th Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition, held on October 11, 2024, in Lagos.
As the overall winner, Ifechukwu received a N10 million cash prize, an all-expense-paid training abroad, and a N30 million infrastructure development for his school.
Kehinde Olukayode of Molusi College, Ogun State, and Aniefiok Udoh from Community Secondary Commercial School, Akwa Ibom State, were awarded as the first and second runners-up, taking home N3 million and N2 million, respectively. In addition, 34 state champions were recognized with a N1 million prize each.
Speaking at the event, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended the continuous efforts of Nigerian Breweries in supporting education through initiatives like the NB-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund. He praised teachers’ roles in nation-building, while Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uplifting the teaching profession.
