The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has reported 1,643 applicants vying for its scholarship scheme this year.
These candidates are pursuing MSc and PhD programs across various universities in Nigeria.
Mr. Tajudeen Ibiyeye, Chief Officer and Team Leader for South West, shared this information during the scholarship interviews held at the University of Ibadan’s Department of Petroleum Engineering.
He noted that among the applicants, 255 are from the South West, including 185 for MSc and 70 for PhD programs.
The PTDF scholarship covers a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, science, management, geo-science, and ICT. Mr. Ibiyeye emphasized the transparency of the selection process, highlighting criteria such as being Nigerian, holding a second class upper division degree, and possessing strong O’ Level results.
Candidates will undergo rigorous panel interviews, with the ultimate number of successful applicants determined by the management. The selection process is monitored by the Federal Character Commission to ensure fairness and integrity.
