Nigerian enrollment in U.S. colleges and universities reached 20,029 in the 2023/2024 academic year, a 13.5% increase from the previous year, according to the latest Open Doors Report by the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.

This milestone solidifies Nigeria’s position as Africa’s top source of international students and the seventh globally. Over 55% of Nigerian students in the U.S. are pursuing graduate-level studies, reflecting their commitment to advanced education.

The report also revealed a record-breaking 1,126,690 international students in U.S. institutions this year, marking an all-time high in global academic exchange.

Nigerian students contribute significantly to diversity and academic excellence, underscoring strong educational ties between Nigeria and the United States.
