The Senate of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has passed a unanimous Vote of Confidence in the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, applauding his leadership for fostering significant growth and development in the institution.

The motion, moved during its recent meeting, also condemned unsubstantiated allegations leveled against the Vice-Chancellor by a faction of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) led by Mr. Benjamin Faleye. The Senate urged staff to follow institutional rules and ordered a probe into the activities of the group.

The Senate further approved a commendation letter for the immediate past Pro-Chancellor, Engineer Kayode Olubunmi Ojo, recognizing his contributions to the university, and welcomed Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba as the new Pro-Chancellor. It also celebrated FUOYE’s ranking as the 10th best university in Nigeria and 38th in Sub-Saharan Africa by Times Higher Education, attributing the success to Professor Fasina’s effective administration.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) distanced itself from the allegations against the Vice-Chancellor. Its chairman, Mr. Babafemi Babasola, called for a resolution of outstanding hazard allowance arrears and reaffirmed the union’s commitment to campus peace and progress. He expressed confidence in the Vice-Chancellor’s ability to address staff welfare issues promptly.
