Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has unveiled the VGS—VIGISCOPE application, a quick-response system aimed at enhancing school safety across Nigeria.
Ogun State Police PRO, Omolola Odutola, announced the launch on Thursday, following a two-day seminar inaugurating the Safe School Protection Squad.
The app connects users to a central command base in Abuja, enabling real-time emergency reporting and rapid response coordination. Accessible via smartphones, the internet-enabled app allows students and school administrators to send distress signals, report incidents, and request immediate assistance.
“This technology improves threat detection, supports tactical interventions, and enhances police efficiency in remote or high-risk areas,” Odutola explained.
The initiative underscores the police’s commitment to safeguarding schools and ensuring swift response during emergencies.
