The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Stella Nwadigo, a 45-year-old teacher at Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, over allegations of physically abusing a three-year-old pupil. The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced this development via his X handle, @benHundeyin, on Wednesday, assuring the public that investigations into the matter are underway.

The incident, which surfaced through a viral two-minute video, shows Nwadigo slapping the young boy five times as he struggled to write the numbers 61 and 62. The video, widely shared on social media, sparked outrage, prompting swift action from authorities. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) also confirmed the teacher’s arrest by the Owutu Police Family Support Unit, emphasizing that an investigation had commenced to address the disturbing incident.

In a statement shared on its verified X handle, @LSdsva, the DSVA reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring schools are safe havens for children. “Institutions of learning should be safe, warm, and protective environments for all children in their care,” the agency stated. It further assured the public of the government’s zero-tolerance policy for abuse and its determination to hold perpetrators accountable.
