The Kano State Government has commenced the distribution of free school uniforms to 796,092 pupils in public schools across the state. The initiative, announced by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, on Sunday, is part of Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration’s commitment to improving education and reducing the number of out-of-school children.

According to Waiya, the program targets over 789,000 male and female pupils in 7,092 public schools across Kano’s 44 local government areas. He explained that the initiative aims to promote school enrollment and provide equal access to quality education for children from all backgrounds. The distribution also seeks to support indigent parents struggling to meet their children’s educational needs.

“This gesture underscores the government’s dedication to ensuring that education remains the cornerstone of development in Kano State,” Waiya said. “By prioritizing the needs of young learners, we aim to empower the next generation with tools to succeed and contribute positively to society.”

The official launch of the program is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will personally oversee the distribution process, further demonstrating his administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable education system across the state.
