Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has announced the installation of CCTV cameras in schools as part of his administration’s efforts to enhance security and protect students and teachers. Speaking at the distribution of educational materials at the Government House in Katsina on Tuesday, Radda stressed the importance of safeguarding educational institutions against potential threats.

“The security of our students and teachers is paramount. Installing CCTV cameras will not only deter criminal activities but also provide real-time monitoring to enhance safety measures in our schools,” the governor stated. This initiative is one of several aimed at improving education and infrastructure in the state.

In addition to the security upgrades, Radda revealed that 25,000 textbooks each for Mathematics, Computer Science, and English Language had been distributed to Basic 4–6 pupils. He also announced the provision of 18 buses to enhance project coordination and special equipment for the School for the Blind, underlining his administration’s commitment to inclusive education.

Further efforts include allocating ₦4.737 billion for constructing classrooms, toilet facilities, and water infrastructure in 150 primary schools identified with critical needs. Governor Radda called on community members and School-Based Management Committees to help maintain these facilities and ensure their sustainability. He also highlighted his administration’s dedication to teacher welfare, introducing a reward system to recognize and encourage excellence among educators, stating, “The government aims to foster an environment where every child can excel and reach their full potential.”
