The Ondo North Senatorial District representative recently hosted the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), at the National Assembly in Abuja. The delegation, led by its Speaker, Daniel Adewale, was present to witness the legislative proceedings and gain firsthand knowledge of the workings of the Senate.

Addressing the students, the lawmaker emphasized the significance of their visit as an essential learning experience. He stated, “You are here to witness the Senate proceedings. This is a learning process.”

He further highlighted the importance of early exposure to governance and leadership, urging the students to prepare themselves for future roles in leadership. “As leaders of tomorrow, you need to get it right from the beginning. You need to learn it so that by tomorrow, when you are moving gradually to the hierarchy or to the staircase of leadership, you know better what leadership is all about.”

The senator also encouraged the students to focus on activities that promote unity and personal development. “I welcome you again to the National Assembly and advise that as you go back to your school, shun any activity that will not bring unity among you and pay attention to those things that will make you better leaders tomorrow.”

Speaking on behalf of the visiting students, Adewale expressed gratitude for the opportunity to observe the legislative process firsthand. “Observing the Plenary Session of the Senate, we’ve been able to get a lot of understanding about how laws are made,” he said.

The visit served as a valuable educational experience, reinforcing the importance of active participation in governance and legislative processes among the youth. It also underscored the senator’s commitment to mentoring young leaders and fostering civic engagement in future generations.
