The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to ramp up and sustain the search for the gunmen who abducted students of Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

During an operational visit to the state on Monday, Gen. Shaibu delivered a firm charge to frontline commanders, insisting that only an aggressive and intelligence-led offensive would be acceptable in the mission to rescue the schoolgirls.

“We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” the Army Chief warned as he briefed troops deployed for the operation.

Gen. Shaibu also met with local vigilante groups and hunters, describing them as vital partners whose deep knowledge of the terrain could provide a critical advantage. He assured them of the military’s determination to restore security in the area so that children can return to school without fear.

Earlier in the day, the COAS paid a visit to the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the school principal, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, offering condolences to the community and reaffirming the military’s commitment to rescuing the abducted students safely.

He further urged troops to maintain discipline and operate strictly within the rules of engagement, while sustaining relentless pressure on the criminal networks responsible for the attacks.
