The Federal Government has opened the application portal for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Federal Technical Colleges across the country, reinforcing its commitment to providing free technical and vocational education for young Nigerians.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the Federal Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo. According to the statement, the initiative was approved by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen technical education nationwide.
Alausa disclosed that registration for the NCEE would commence on January 26 and close on May 24, while the examination is scheduled to be conducted nationwide on June 6. He explained that the exercise aligns with the Federal Government’s broader strategy to expand access to quality technical and vocational education and to equip young Nigerians with practical, employable, and industry-relevant skills.
Prospective candidates were advised to complete their applications through the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) online portal at https://student.nabteb.gov.ng. The minister emphasized that possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory and remains a key requirement for successful registration.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to education and youth development, Alausa stressed that technical education in Federal Technical Colleges is fully funded upon admission. He noted that the policy reflects the administration’s focus on human capital development, youth empowerment, and increased national productivity.
He added that candidates between the ages of 13 and 20 are eligible to apply and urged parents, guardians, and prospective students to ensure strict compliance with all application guidelines.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Education remains dedicated to expanding access to free and quality technical education, with the goal of empowering youths with relevant skills, promoting self-reliance, and contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic growth and sustainable development.
