The University of Jos has postponed all examinations scheduled for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026, following a deadly attack by unknown gunmen in Angwan Rukuba, a community housing many of the institution’s staff and students.

The decision was announced in a security advisory signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, Emmanuel Madugu, on behalf of the Registrar. The Vice-Chancellor directed that the affected examinations be rescheduled in view of the security situation.

According to the statement, the late evening attack has heightened tension in and around the area, raising concerns about the safety of members of the university community.

Students and staff have been urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution in their movements both on and off campus. The advisory specifically warned against early morning outings and encouraged prompt reporting of any suspicious activity or threats to the University Security Division.

The management also disclosed that it is working closely with relevant security agencies and monitoring developments to ensure the safety of lives and property within the university community.
