The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has announced the establishment of a police post around the Ibogun campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) as part of efforts to strengthen security and enhance community policing.

Ojajuni made the disclosure during an assessment visit to the campus, accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Bolanle Muritala, and the Area Commander, Ifo, ACP Seyi Williams.

During the visit, the commissioner held a strategic meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Johnson Agboola; the Provost of the College of Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Prof. Bashir Olufemi Odufuwa; the Olu of Ibogun-Sowumi, Oba Timothy Sowumi; as well as other principal officers, community leaders, and student representatives.

Members of the Student Union Government and other stakeholders raised concerns over security challenges within the campus and surrounding communities, calling for urgent and coordinated action.

Responding, Ojajuni assured stakeholders that the command had assessed the situation and would immediately intensify security measures, including increased patrols and proactive policing strategies.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration with other security agencies such as the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, and So-Safe Corps to ensure comprehensive coverage of the area.

As part of the visit, the commissioner inspected the Ibogun Divisional Police Headquarters, where he assessed operational readiness and issued directives aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency cooperation and sustaining engagement with stakeholders to ensure a safe and secure environment for students and residents in Ogun State.
