The highly anticipated CEM Read and Spell Challenge 2026, an initiative of Crystal Education Media, is set to hold its preliminary stage on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Jordan 93.9FM, Ushafa, Abuja.

The educational competition, themed “Read, Spell & Shine,” aims to promote reading culture, improve spelling proficiency, and build academic confidence among pupils and students across Abuja.

According to the organisers, the competition will feature participants from various categories including Nursery, Primary, Junior Secondary, and Senior Secondary levels, providing a platform for young learners to showcase their literacy skills.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Convener and CCO of Crystal Education Media, Ochei Joshua Chuks, popularly known as Chuks Crystal, stated that the initiative is designed to address the declining reading culture among young people and inspire a new generation of readers and thinkers.

“This challenge is more than a competition; it is a movement to encourage students to read, think, and express themselves confidently,” he said.

Participants are expected to engage in spelling tasks drawn from selected storybooks curated to enhance comprehension and vocabulary development.

The preliminary round will take place at the Jordan Radio station, while winners will advance to the grand finale scheduled for May 16, 2026.

The event will also feature media coverage, educational engagement, and recognition for outstanding performers across all categories.

Crystal Education Media has called on schools, parents, and stakeholders in the education sector to support the initiative, noting that early literacy development remains key to academic success and national growth.
