The University of Ibadan is set to become a major hub for African university sports later this month as it prepares to host the 8th Afro-Varsity 3×3 Basketball Challenge in Oyo State.

The championship, scheduled to hold from May 28 to June 1, is expected to attract student-athletes, coaches, sports officials, and university administrators from across the continent in a celebration of youth development, sportsmanship, and athletic excellence.

Organisers of the tournament have confirmed registrations from 22 universities representing seven African countries, highlighting the growing popularity and continental recognition of the competition within African university sports.

The annual basketball challenge has continued to expand over the years, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents while promoting collaboration and healthy competition among higher institutions across Africa.
