The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has cautioned members of the public against a fake security deployment letter currently circulating on social media and other online platforms.

In a statement issued by the examination body, WAEC clarified that the document, which claims to contain special security arrangements for the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), did not originate from the Council and should be disregarded.

WAEC urged candidates, parents, school administrators, and other stakeholders to rely only on information released through its official communication channels. The Council warned that misinformation could cause unnecessary confusion and anxiety among examination candidates and the general public.

The examination body reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a credible, secure, and transparent examination process across all participating countries. It also encouraged members of the public to verify any information relating to WASSCE before sharing it.

WAEC advised anyone in possession of the fake document to ignore it and report misleading examination-related information to the appropriate authorities.

The Council reiterated that all official announcements regarding examinations, security arrangements, and operational matters will continue to be communicated through its verified platforms and authorized representatives.

Stakeholders have been encouraged to remain vigilant and avoid spreading unverified information that could undermine public confidence in the examination process.
