The National Examinations Council (NECO) has warned members of the public against fraudulent online recruitment portals claiming to recruit examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.

The examination body said the fake platforms are targeting unsuspecting individuals by requesting academic credentials and demanding payments under the pretext of offering supervisor appointments.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, NECO clarified that it does not charge any fee for the recruitment of examination supervisors and urged prospective applicants to ignore such fraudulent schemes.

According to the council, the recruitment process for supervisors and assistant supervisors has been fully digitised as part of efforts to improve transparency, accountability and the overall credibility of public examinations.

NECO explained that the move from the former manual recruitment system to an electronic platform aligns with ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening examination supervision and reducing irregularities.

The council stated that qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors during the 2026 SSCE Internal, should submit their applications only through the official NECO recruitment portal.

It stressed that the application process is fully automated and does not require the involvement of any agent, consultant or third party.

NECO noted that the digital recruitment system is designed to curb fraud, promote fairness and enhance the integrity of the examination process nationwide.

The examination body further disclosed that it plans to recruit more than 22,000 supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, which is scheduled to begin on June 15.

The council advised applicants and members of the public to remain vigilant and verify information through official NECO channels to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
