The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended the posting of corps members to three local government areas in Kebbi State following persistent security threats linked to bandit attacks in the affected communities.
The decision was announced as part of measures aimed at safeguarding the lives and welfare of corps members serving in the state. NYSC officials explained that the security situation in the affected local government areas necessitated the temporary suspension of deployments until conditions improve.
The scheme noted that the safety of corps members remains a top priority and assured prospective corps members that alternative places of primary assignment and safer locations would be provided.
The affected local government areas have experienced recurring incidents of banditry and related criminal activities, prompting concerns among residents and security agencies. NYSC urged corps members currently serving in Kebbi State to remain vigilant, comply with security advisories and promptly report any suspicious activities to relevant authorities.
