The National Examinations Council (NECO) has warned members of the public about fraudulent online portals being used by scammers to impersonate its examination supervisor recruitment process ahead of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
The council said the fake platforms were being used to solicit personal details and payments from unsuspecting applicants under the guise of recruitment, stressing that NECO does not charge any fee for the exercise.
NECO explained that it has adopted a fully electronic recruitment system for supervisors and assistant supervisors to improve transparency, credibility and efficiency in the conduct of examinations.
According to the council, only qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old are eligible to apply through its official recruitment portal.
It further disclosed plans to engage about 22,000 supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal, scheduled to commence on June 15, urging applicants to rely only on verified official channels.
The examination body advised the public to disregard fake websites and report suspicious platforms, adding that the digital recruitment process is designed to eliminate third-party interference and reduce malpractice.
NECO reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a credible examination process and warned that those behind fraudulent recruitment schemes would be investigated and prosecuted.
