The Nigeria Police Force has assured parents and candidates of adequate security ahead of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination scheduled for April 16, 2026, dismissing circulating rumours of planned attacks as baseless.

The reassurance follows widespread social media claims alleging that bandits were plotting to target some examination centres in the North-central region, sparking concern among parents and candidates preparing for the nationwide exercise.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, said the police are aware of the rumours but stressed that there is no credible threat to any examination centre. He described the claims as unfounded while acknowledging public concerns over the safety of candidates.

Placid stated that the police have nonetheless taken proactive steps to ensure a secure environment, deploying both technology and additional personnel to approved centres across the country. He noted that security arrangements include routine patrols, perimeter surveillance, and the positioning of rapid response teams at strategic locations.

He added that the police are working in collaboration with other security agencies to monitor developments and respond swiftly to any potential risks, warning that any attempt to disrupt the examination process would be met with decisive action.

The Force encouraged candidates to arrive early at their examination centres, comply with all guidelines, and promptly report any suspicious activity to security personnel on ground.

Parents and members of the public were also urged to disregard unverified information circulating online and rely only on official communications from the Nigeria Police Force and JAMB.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the police said all necessary measures have been put in place to guarantee a smooth, peaceful, and secure conduct of the examination nationwide, while appreciating the cooperation of citizens and other security agencies.
