The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, in what is suspected to be a case of suicide.

The student, identified as Audi Emmanuel, a Computer Engineering student, was reportedly found dead in his residence along Awolowo Road in Emure-Ile, near the Amotekun Office.

Police spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that officers visited the scene, recovered the body, and deposited it at a morgue for preservation and autopsy.

“Preliminary observations suggest a case of suicide. However, a thorough investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident,” Jimoh said.

He added that the command has commenced a full investigation into the matter and extended condolences to the family of the deceased.

The police also urged members of the public to seek help and speak up during moments of emotional distress, emphasizing the importance of accessing available support systems.
