The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted accreditation to all 49 academic programmes presented by Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, marking a significant milestone for the young institution.
Of the total programmes assessed during the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise, 43 received full accreditation, while six were granted interim status.
Vice-Chancellor, Olanrewaju Olaniyan, said the outcome reflects the university’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and delivering quality education.
“We presented 49 programmes for accreditation and all of them were successfully accredited,” he stated, noting that the achievement underscores the institution’s steady progress since it commenced academic activities on August 9, 2023.
Olaniyan also revealed that the university has recorded rapid growth, with a current student population of 8,679 and students already in their 300 level.
In a letter addressed to Seyi Makinde, the NUC said the exercise was conducted in line with its mandate to ensure compliance with minimum academic standards in Nigerian universities.
Programmes granted full accreditation span key disciplines such as Accounting, Computer Science, Economics, Political Science, and several education-related courses. Others include Educational Management, Guidance and Counselling, Library and Information Science, and Yoruba Education.
However, a few programmes—including Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Human Kinetics, and Special Education—received interim accreditation, indicating areas that require improvement before reassessment.
The commission explained that full accreditation is valid for five years, while interim accreditation lasts for two years. It also warned that programmes denied accreditation would face an immediate ban on admissions, with affected graduates risking exclusion from the National Youth Service Corps.
The NUC urged the Oyo State Government to address identified gaps and sustain the standards achieved, as the university continues to expand its academic offerings and student base.
