FG launches new teacher development scheme to boost smart education

The Federal Government has unveiled a new teacher development programme, Teacher Internship Scheme (TIS), designed to support states in the emergence of a new generation of teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the digital age and help in the implementation of smart education in Nigeria.

The scheme was introduced by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), to address the dearth of teachers in the field of smart education being championed by the commission in Nigeria, with the establishment of 37 smart schools across the country.

The execution of the smart education programme in Nigeria is being provided technical support by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and a commitment of about $10.4 million to the project. Gov Abiodun awards N2m each to OOU’s best graduating students

As part of efforts by his administration to encourage scholarship, Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Wednesday announced the award of N2 million each to the overall best graduating students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye.

Three students: Talabi Hazeem Ayomide, Adesanya Ibrahim Damilola and Alabi Ifeoluwa, tied on a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.86 to emerge joint best graduating students for the 2021/2022 academic session.

Anambra Educational Advisory Council presents 2022/2023 academic sessions report to Soludo

The Anambra State Educational Advisory Council has presented its 2022/2023 Academic Sessions report titled, ‘Solution Agenda: Shaping the Future of Anambra State through Innovative Educational Strategies’ to the state Governor, Chukwuma Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia, on Friday.

The presentation was made by the council’s vice chairman, Chief Osita Chidoka, on behalf of other council members.

According to Chief Chidoka, “the council’s 18 members, with Governor Soludo as chairman and myself as Vice Chairman, were inaugurated to develop new pathways for delivering quality education and improving learning outcomes for students in the Anambra school system. Tinubu reiterates commitment to education sector as FUNAAB graduates 3574

President Bola Tinubu has restated his administration’s commitment to the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ through programmes that can enhance service delivery for rapid transformation of the education sector in the country.

He made the disclosure while addressing the 3,574 graduands of the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta, during the institution’s 31st convocation ceremony, held at the Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building on Saturday last week.

Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Hon.Yusuf Tanko Sununu, said his government would continue to interface with critical stakeholders in the education sector to share ideas, break frontiers and to provide necessary support for the agricultural sector. Govt should review education policies for alumni’s full participation in schools —BGHS National President

Baptist Girls High School (BGHS), Osogbo, founded by the Baptist missionaries was established on February 1, 1956. NYSC to review camp registration process

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has disclosed plans to review its registration process in its Orientation camps to checkmate attempts by unqualified persons to enroll for national service.

These, according to the scheme, include fake graduates appearing as Prospective Corps Members and persons who, having served previously or issued with an Exemption Certificate, attempt to present themselves again for National Service.

Gov Aiyedatiwa assures state-owned tertiary institutions of support

Kwara reads riot act to substandard private school operators

Kwara State Government has issued a three-month ultimatum to all substandard and unregistered private schools in the state.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, gave the ultimatum Wednesday in Ilorin, during a meeting with the owners of unregistered private schools across the state.

Hajia Modibbo frowned at the inability of some owners of private schools to comply with the regulations guiding the establishment of private schools, warning that the state government would not hesitate to take necessary actions against private schools intending to sabotage its efforts. ZSUBEB partners NHGSFP to advance basic education in Zamfara

Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, ZSUBEB, has said it will partner with the National Home Grown School Feeding Program, NHGSFP, to promote basic education in the State.

This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesman of the Board, Ibrahim Musa Maizare, saying that the ZSUBEB Executive Chairman, Prof. Nasir Garba Anka, has assured the Coordinator of organisation in the State.

Yobe Varsity mulls affiliation with state-owned poly on academic programmes

The Vice-Chancellor, Yobe State University, Prof. Mala Mohd Daura, on Thursday, led a delegation to the Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic, Geidam for resource verification of affiliated academic programmes.

The varsity’s Director of Information, Uwani Mamuda, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Damaturu.The programmes according to Mamuda include Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Management, Public Administration, Local Government Administration, Health Economics and Public Policy and Strategic Studies. Foundation prepares 100 graduates for employment

The Kemak Foundation for Enhancing Sustainable Livelihood, a non-governmental organisation, has held training for over 100 graduates in Ebonyi state.

The summit, according to the foundation’s Executive Director, Makuachukwu Ojide, is to prepare and equip the graduates for the labour market.He said this is in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) eight, which emphasises full and productive employment and decent work for women and men.
