As the world marks Children’s Day, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), called on parents to educate their children on waste sorting and recycling to ensure a sustainable future.

Speaking at LAWMA’s headquarters in Ijora-Olopa, where the agency celebrated with educational activities and games for children, Gbadegesin emphasized the importance of instilling proper waste management habits early. He noted, “Teaching our children about recycling and proper waste management is crucial for the future of our environment. By incorporating these lessons into their daily lives, we can nurture a generation committed to sustainable practices.”

Mrs. Monsurat Banire, Director of the Environmental Education Unit at the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, praised LAWMA’s efforts, stating, “When we involve children in anything we do, we are assured of a better and sustainable future.”

Mrs. Bola Adewumi, Head of LAWMA Academy Training and Development, encouraged children to adopt positive environmental attitudes, highlighting LAWMA’s dedication to raising young ambassadors for sustainable practices.
