The death of Modupe Ayandare, a 500-level Agronomy student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has sparked mixed reactions.

Ayandare was found dead off-campus, with initial reports suggesting she hanged herself near a church after attending a vigil around 4 a.m.

Many Nigerians have raised doubts about the suicide claim, citing the posture of her body. Activist Oluwaseun Ogunmola has called for a thorough investigation by the state government and police to ensure justice is served. He pointed out inconsistencies in the suicide narrative and urged authorities to uncover the true circumstances of Ayandare’s death.

Olaogbebikan Noble, the Students’ Union Public Relations Officer, also expressed skepticism. He noted the unusual position of Ayandare’s body and the loosely tied rope, suggesting the need for a deeper investigation. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, with the police spokesperson confirming that an investigation is ongoing.
