Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Ibrahim Layode, has urged parents to prioritize their children’s education to prepare them for future leadership roles. His call to action came during the 21st edition of the Ayeye Ileya ceremony, celebrating the Eid-El Kabir festival in Badagry.

Represented by Mr. Sesi Pot-Balogun, a member of the Ayeye Ileya Education Committee, Layode emphasized the importance of education in nation-building. “Educated children are the hope of the country’s future,” he stated, encouraging parents to collaborate with the Ministry of Education to implement effective educational policies.

In a show of support for local education, Layode presented gifts to the children of Badagry, explaining that the gesture was aimed at promoting educational development in the area.

The Akran of Badagry Kingdom, Aholu Menu Toyi 1, also addressed the attendees. Represented by the Depegan of Badagry, Chief Tunde Giro, the Akran urged the Badagry Muslim Community to utilize the Sallah celebration as a time for prayers for peace and development in Badagry, Lagos State, and Nigeria. He highlighted that true peace, growth, and development can only be achieved with the security of lives and property.

Furthermore, Mr. Solomon Bonu, the lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, advised Muslims to pray for peace and stability in the nation.

Echoing this sentiment, the Chief Imam of Badagry Division, Alhaji Uwais Akewusola, called on residents to use the festive period to pray for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the country.

The Ayeye Ileya ceremony thus served as a platform not only for religious celebration but also for community leaders to advocate for educational advancement and communal harmony, emphasizing collective efforts towards a secure and prosperous future.
