Plateau government has awarded contracts for the construction of 55 new secondary schools, including 35 junior and 20 senior schools, under the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) funded by the World Bank.

Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, highlighted the importance of these projects in overhauling the state’s education sector and stressed the need for strict adherence to project specifications. He committed to high standards and effective supervision to ensure the successful implementation of these schools, funded through loans.

He announced this initiative in Jos, emphasizing its role in enhancing educational opportunities, especially for girls.

The initiative has been praised by Mohammed Nyalun, the state’s commissioner for secondary education, and Shirinkpo Maina, the AGILE project coordinator, for its potential to provide quality and inclusive education to every child in Plateau, ensuring a better learning environment across the state.
