The Federal Government has designated N47.5 billion for the enhancement of 50 secondary schools across Nigeria, aiming to equip them with modern teaching and learning infrastructure.

This initiative was announced by Dr. Iyela Ajayi, Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), during the launch of the project at Government Secondary School, Koton Karfe, Kogi State.

This upgrade is part of the first phase of a broader intervention strategy designed to improve educational facilities and create conducive learning environments in senior secondary schools. Each state will benefit from the initiative, ensuring that at least one school in every state receives upgrades. Ajayi emphasized the pressing need for such interventions, citing an assessment that revealed the poor conditions of many secondary schools.

Dr. Ajayi praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the project, highlighting that neglecting secondary education compromises the future of Nigerian children. The initiative not only focuses on infrastructure but also includes capacity building for educators, aiming to significantly enhance the quality of senior secondary education in the country.
