Niger State has strengthened its collaboration with Kent State University, USA, aiming to create new opportunities in higher education, business, and investment.

Led by the Hon. Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo, the state delegation engaged in productive meetings with Kent State’s Office of Global Education and Ohio’s Department of Development, culminating in the signing of a Letter of Intent with the university’s Provost. This agreement builds on a previously signed Global Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.

A key highlight of this partnership is the establishment of a center at Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, designed to offer international-standard education. The flagship initiative includes a two-plus-two degree program that allows students to begin their studies in Nigeria and complete them at Kent State, with reduced tuition costs. Additional programs include fully online learning options, student and lecturer exchange programs, and courses in fields like aviation, vocational skills, and sports.

This collaboration extends beyond education, fostering investment ties between Niger State and Ohio’s business community. With these initiatives, Niger State aims to drive economic growth and offer its students global educational opportunities while strengthening its ties with international partners.
