The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has completed its re-accreditation review of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency’s (NiMet) Regional Training Centre (RTC) in Oshodi, Lagos.
The eight-yearly visit, led by Dr. Paul Bugeac from WMO Headquarters in Geneva, lasted five days and assessed the training centre’s standards and facilities.
Dr. Bugeac noted significant improvements since previous complaints about the RTC, expressing satisfaction with the upgraded hostel facilities, solar power installations, and maintenance practices. He praised Nigeria’s RTC as a model for other countries, acknowledging its commitment to innovative courses and continuous improvement.
The WMO team extended thanks to NiMet’s DG/CEO, Prof. Anosike, for his hospitality and leadership. The WMO requested final documentation from NiMet to complete the re-accreditation, reinforcing the strong partnership between Nigeria and the global meteorological community.
