The National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education (NCAOOSCE) has announced plans to create a strategic plan aimed at addressing the challenges of almajiri education and out-of-school children.

The commission, following a three-day retreat, emphasized the importance of collective action and highlighted the links between neglect in education and insecurity.

During the retreat, NCAOOSCE called for strengthened political commitment and a focus on reliable data to drive effective policy decisions. The commission stressed the need for increased funding from government, corporate bodies, and international organizations, as well as investment in teacher recruitment and training to ensure quality education.

In line with President Bola Tinubu’s education agenda, the retreat gathered stakeholders dedicated to improving educational opportunities for vulnerable children. NCAOOSCE also encouraged the integration of technology in teaching to enhance learning outcomes for out-of-school and almajiri children.
