The Federal Government has pledged to review and introduce new initiatives aimed at addressing challenges in primary education, including the issues of out-of-school children and ‘learning poverty.’

Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaba Ahmad, made the announcement during the opening of a nationwide training workshop for the education secretaries of Nigeria’s 774 local councils. Organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in Abuja, the workshop focuses on educating and sensitizing education managers, with an emphasis on delivering quality basic education.

Dr. Ahmad highlighted the constitutional responsibility of local governments in primary school education and the importance of competent and effective education managers at this level. She also reiterated that education is a top priority in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
