Lagos – Rotary International District 9111 is set to host a scholarship award event on Tuesday in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, aimed at supporting brilliant but financially disadvantaged students in tertiary institutions across Lagos and Ogun states.
Speaking on the initiative, District 9111 Governor, Dr. Wole Kukoyi, emphasized that the scholarship program seeks to ease the financial burden on indigent students, ensuring they can focus on their education without concerns over tuition and welfare.
“The gesture is designed to assist bright students who struggle with financial constraints, providing them with the means to continue their studies and improve their overall welfare,” Kukoyi said.
Chairman of the District 9111 Educational and Welfare Endowment Fund (DEWEF), Rotarian Alaba Olalekan, outlined the financial support package for beneficiaries. According to him, each awardee will receive N400,000 annually, covering school fees, feeding, and textbooks.

The event is expected to attract key stakeholders, including education advocates, community leaders, and beneficiaries, to celebrate and promote the importance of education in societal growth.
