Kwankwaso pledges to prioritise education, youth empowerment

Edo APC tackles Obaseki over collapse of Education system
The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), blamed the “inaction and insensitivity” of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration for the “collapse of the educational system” which the party says is evident in the acute shortage of public school teachers in the state.
The APC’s reaction was triggered by lamentation of Comrade Bernard Gbenga Ajobiewe, the chairman of the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) during recent World Teachers Day that the shortage of teachers across Edo State public schools have become an embarrassment.

Kebbi to revamp schools’ infrastructure with World Bank funds – Bagudu
Governor, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, says the state government will use funds provided under a World Bank assisted programme, AGILE, to revamp schools infrastructure across the state.
AGILE is Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, a World Bank Assisted Programme to help improve the secondary education of girls in targeted areas.

Foreign education gulped $609.5m in eight months — CBN
The data from the CBN revealed that Nigerians remitted more than $609.5m to foreign academic institutions in eight months without significant reciprocity in form of inflows from foreign sources to the local educational sector.
The figure is contained in the data obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria, calculated based on the information provided on the amount spent on educational services under the sectoral utilisation for transactions valid for foreign exchange.

The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr Hamid Bobboyi, has stated that the 37 smart schools being built by the federal government in the various states and the Federal Capital Territory are compliant with international standards and best practices in smart education.
He stated this at the end of a study tour that he led to South Korea comprising some SUBEB chairmen and top officials from UBEC, the Federal Ministry of Education, the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning and the National Teachers Institute (NTI).

Dubai Company donates educational materials to 500 less-privileged pupils in Nigeria
A Dubai-based private firm, Saitama LLC, has distributed educational materials to no fewer than 500 less privileged pupils in two primary schools in Kano, Kano State.
The company’s representative, Mr Abubakar Umar, said the effort was part of the commitment to give back to education in the state and to encourage the students in their pursuit of education towards a better future.

Cameras Capture Tiger Cub Roaming On Educational Institute Campus In Bhopal
A tiger cub roaming on the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) campus here since the last five days has finally been photographed by cameras set up on the premises, a forest official said.
The prestigious institute had moved to online teaching mode last Thursday for a day, after forest officials found pug marks and confirmed the presence of the big cat on the campus, the official said on Sunday.
