A 200-level student from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State reportedly threw her newborn baby from the upper floor of the female hostel after giving birth.

A student at the university confirmed that the baby girl was found dead on the ground, having been thrown from a three-story building. The mother reportedly acted out of shame after giving birth out of wedlock.

Police spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident, stating that police received the report and rushed to the scene. Both the baby and mother were taken to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital, where the infant was declared dead. The mother is currently receiving treatment.
