Egbin Power Plc, Nigeria’s largest power generation company, has launched the Egbin PowerUp internship programme to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application.

This six-month immersive programme provides students from Nigerian tertiary institutions with hands-on technical experience at the power plant, fostering skills, confidence, and creativity through real-world projects.

CEO Mokhtar Bounour emphasized the programme’s role in empowering youth with practical training and problem-solving skills, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education. “Investing in our nation’s youth is investing in Nigeria’s future,” said Bounour, highlighting the initiative’s potential to drive the nation’s energy revolution.

The current cohort, which began in July, includes students from top institutions like UNILAG, Pan-Atlantic University, and the University of Ilorin, among others. By nurturing emerging talents, Egbin PowerUp aims to build a sustainable future for Nigeria’s power sector and contribute to the nation’s overall progress and prosperity.
