The federal government has launched technical working groups to incorporate gas entrepreneurial skills into the curriculum of Nigeria’s technical colleges.

This initiative, inaugurated by the Petroleum Resources Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Nicholas Ella, aims to enhance technical education by bridging skill gaps in the gas industry.

The newly formed groups, including the National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), are tasked with designing a comprehensive curriculum to train students in gas-related entrepreneurship. Mr. Ella emphasized that the goal is to equip graduates with specialized skills that will empower them to become entrepreneurs immediately upon leaving school.

Focusing on various aspects of the gas value chain, such as LPG, CNG, LNG, and biogas, the program aims to align Nigeria’s technical education sector with global standards. The initiative reflects a deliberate effort to innovate and modernize technical training, ensuring that institutions produce graduates ready to meet the demands of the evolving energy sector.
