Acting Vice-Chancellor of the newly upgraded Federal University of Education, Kano, Sadi Sirajo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for signing the bill that elevated the Federal College of Education (FCE), Kano, to university status.

In a telephone interview on Monday, Mr. Sirajo praised the Tinubu administration for its commitment to advancing the country’s education sector, describing the move as a bold step toward fostering growth and excellence.

Mr. Sirajo expressed optimism that the university’s new status would boost academic standards and expand opportunities for aspiring students. He noted that the transition would also promote both formal and informal employment by creating new faculties and departments that align with high-demand professional fields. He assured that the institution is well-equipped to support its faculty and staff for a smooth launch, emphasizing that existing campus infrastructure is sufficient for the transition.

Reflecting on the journey to university status, Mr. Sirajo acknowledged the efforts of key supporters, including the Deputy Senate President, Barau I. Jibrin, and House Speaker Tajuddeen Abbas, who played instrumental roles in realizing the upgrade.

He emphasized that the university would now be positioned to develop the skilled manpower needed to support educational progress in northern Nigeria and beyond.
