Former Anambra Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated N60 million to support education in Anambra State.
He allocated N50 million to Peter University, Achina/Onneh, and N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi-Nnukwu. This gesture reaffirms Obi’s dedication to strengthening education as a foundation for national development.
Speaking at Peter University, Obi underscored the transformative role of quality education and urged students to pursue academic excellence, viewing their efforts as investments in Nigeria’s future. At the College of Nursing Sciences, he emphasized the importance of nurturing skills and professionalism, encouraging those who may emigrate for better opportunities to eventually return and contribute to Nigeria’s progress.
Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor, a key supporter of both institutions, praised Obi as a “Father of Education” in Anambra for his enduring commitment to advancing educational infrastructure and standards. Rev. Fr. Prof. Emmanuel Umezinwa, Vice-Chancellor of Peter University, also commended Obi’s support, especially for initiatives like the entrepreneurship center, which equips students with practical skills for self-reliance.
