The Ogun State Government has pledged to dismantle societal stereotypes and ensure access to education, healthcare, and equitable job opportunities for People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in the state.

This commitment was reiterated by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, during the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Highlighting the 2023 theme, “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future,” Adeleye emphasized the importance of empowering PLWDs to actively shape policies and initiatives that foster societal progress. She noted that the state has already provided mobility aids, professional tools, and digital educational devices, among other resources, to support PLWDs and their unique needs.

The commissioner assured that the government would continue working with stakeholders to create an inclusive society. “We are steadfast in ensuring no one is left behind, prioritizing accessible education, healthcare, and employment while amplifying the voices of persons with disabilities as transformative leaders and agents of change,” she stated.
