The Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships that will improve teachers’ welfare, enhance learning outcomes, and raise education standards across the state.

Speaking in Makurdi while receiving the liaison officer of donor agencies, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Grace Adagba, said the state is set to collaborate with Save the Children International (SCI) to significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children in Benue.

In a statement released on Tuesday by SUBEB’s Information Officer, Emmanuella Akese, the visit was prompted by a request from SCI to discuss the ongoing implementation and progress of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) programme in the state.

Adagba commended Save the Children International, the GPE, and other development partners for their continuous support in promoting access to inclusive and quality education for children in Benue. She noted that the collaboration aligns with the state government’s vision of providing equitable education opportunities for all school-aged children.

During the meeting, SCI’s liaison officer, Joshua Anar, presented updates on the milestones achieved under the GPE programme, outlining successes recorded in targeted schools and the joint efforts aimed at strengthening basic education delivery across the state.

The partnership, according to both parties, is expected to further improve school enrolment, teacher training, and community engagement—key drivers of sustainable educational development in Benue State.
