The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, has formally admitted 1,996 students into its National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session during its 17th matriculation ceremony. Speaking at the event, the Rector, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, urged the newly admitted students to remain committed to their academic goals and embrace values such as discipline, hard work, and dedication throughout their stay in the institution.

Prof. Akinlabi warned the students against engaging in acts of indiscipline, including cultism, gangsterism, indecent dressing, and other forms of misconduct. He disclosed that out of thousands of applicants who sought admission into the institution, 1,393 candidates were offered admission into full-time and part-time National Diploma programmes, while 603 were admitted into full-time and part-time Higher National Diploma programmes, bringing the total number of newly admitted students to 1,996.

The rector described OYSCATECH as a respected institution known for its strong focus on practical education, entrepreneurship training, skills acquisition, research, and community service. He noted that since the college attained full polytechnic status in April 2016, it has continued to strengthen its manpower and facilities to enhance teaching, learning, and research. According to him, the institution aims to become a centre of excellence in agriculture, technology, and management by producing innovative and self-reliant graduates who can contribute to food sufficiency and national development.

Akinlabi also highlighted several developments within the institution, including the accreditation of all ND and HND programmes, collaborations with institutions such as the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, and support from TETFund and other organisations. Earlier, the Registrar, Mr. R.F.A. Adeniji, represented by the Deputy Registrar (Personnel), Mr. Olajire Gbadamosi, administered the matriculation oath to the students, who pledged to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the institution.
